Jake Ozburn was appointed to the Idaho Barley Commission on July 1, 2026, representing Idaho barley growers from southeastern Idaho.
Jake farms north of Soda Springs on land his family settled in 1914. As a fifth-generation farmer, he grows primarily malt barley along with wheat, spring green peas, winter peas and canola. His family’s long history in Idaho agriculture has shaped his commitment to producing high-quality crops while preserving the operation for future generations.
Jake’s interest in serving on the Idaho Barley Commission stems from his passion for representing Idaho barley growers and ensuring producers have a voice in decisions that impact the industry. He has served as a state director representing Caribou County on the Idaho Grain Producers Association Executive Board since 2012, where he has gained valuable experience in agricultural policy and advocacy. Through that role, he developed a strong appreciation for the importance of grower leadership and working collaboratively to advance Idaho agriculture.
As an Idaho Barley Commissioner, Jake looks forward to supporting research, market development and educational efforts that strengthen opportunities for Idaho barley growers while helping ensure the long-term success of the state’s barley industry.
“When I first came back to the farm as a new grower, the Idaho Barley Commission was one of the first organizations to reach out to me. The marketing resources and educational programs gave me the tools I needed to understand grain markets, read price charts and make informed marketing decisions. Those resources really paved the way for making meaningful contributions to our farm, and over the years I came to appreciate how important our commodity organizations are. I always hoped that one day I would have the opportunity to serve as a commissioner and give back to an organization that invested in me.”
